Overlaying Video in Adobe Premiere 6.5
Adobe Premiere 6.5:
Using Track Matte and Alpha Channel-
1) Load the background clip of your choice onto the Video 1B Track.
2) Load the image you want to overlay over your background onto the
Video 2 Track.
3) Right click this clip on the timeline. Choose: Video Options, then
Transparency. 4) Choose "Track Matte" as your Key Type. Select "OK."
5) Create a new video track (select Timeline from top menu, and then
"Add Video Track).
6) On this new track (Video 3), add the alpha matte file matching the
overlay image.
7) Make sure the alpha matte file is perfectly lined up with the overlay
track on Video 2.
8) Right click on the alpha matte file, and again choose "video options"
and then "Transparency."
9) This time, select "Black Alpha Matte" for your key type.
10) Render your timeline, and you'll see a clean composite over your
backgroun video.
Using Luminance-
1)Load the clip that you're using for your background onto the Video
1B Track on the timeline.
2)Then, load the clip you want to overlay onto the Video 2 Track. Right
click on this track.
3)Choose "Video Options," then "Transparency." Select Luminance for
your Key Type.
4)After this,you simply slide the Threshold arrow for best overlay results.
Typically, the best setting will be found in the 45 to 60 range.
Overlaying Video in After Effects
After Effects:
Use this technique to achieve a cleaner overlay than premiere or media
studio pro can achieve.
1)Place the Video Matte animation on track #1 and fire animation on
track #2
The Video Matte is the Animation with the Letter "M".
2)On track #2 TrkMat- Select Luma Matte(# of matte animation on track
#1)
3)Select both Tracks #1 and #2 highlighted
4)On top menu select Layer - PreCompose
5)Now select the new Pre-Comp that was just created
6)Choose Effect- Channel - Remove Color Matting
There ya go- A much cleaner overlay in after effects!!!
Overlaying Video in Ulead Media Studio Pro
Ulead Media Studio Pro:
1)Overlay Options
2)Type- Gray Key
3)Mask- Video Matte(select the video matte for this animation)
The Video Matte is the Animation with the Letter "M".
4)Invert Overlay area- CHECK ON
Overlaying Video in Final Cut Pro
1) Put your video on V1
2) Put the animation movie on V2.
3) Double click on the animation movie in the Timeline so it appears
in the Viewer
4) Go to Menu bar --> Effects --> Video Filters --> Key --> and select
Difference Matte
5) Difference Matte is now selected in the Filters Tab of the animation
clip in the Viewer (leave it open)
6) Go to the Browser, select the Video Clip on Track 1 and drag it into the
square-with-questionmark (at Difference Layer) in the Filters Tab of
the clip in the Viewer (which was already open)
7) In the Timeline, pace the cursor at the start of your clip and you
will see the result immediatly in the Canvas
8) Evenually modify the effect in the Viewer and then start rendering
So, you don't need the separate Alpha-channel of the clip: FCP automatically
recognise the alpha-channel of the clip.
